The New Catastrophes “Weather The Storm” On New Album
San Jose, CA's The New Catastrophes have released their new album, Weather The Storm, via streaming platforms, as a free…
Go - SBÄM Records
Here come the The Von Tramps and there they ‘Go’ so to speak, full on Punk Rock n Roll is what your always going to get from this high octane no corner left to hide band.
Like jumping out of an aeroplane at 30,000 feet and putting your faith in a sheet of nylon to save you, the rush of adrenaline that this album gives you, is without doubt worth hitting the play button alone.
The overwhelming feeling you get when ‘Go’ the title track and opener hits you, is early Go Go’s with the attitude and overwhelming power of Angels & Airwaves, the vocal colossus that is Jenna Enemy leaves you with no doubt that what is yet to come in this 12 track cacophony of music and style, will have you hovering like a bee to a flower, and waiting for the sting in the tail.

Track after track this album lives up to its title, Go and keep on going is the only thing you feel yourself doing throughout. The momentum is born out of pent up frustration from 2 years plus of lockdowns and restrictions, a world that needs to now not look back, but get on the upside of life, this is a mantra that seems to flow through this breadth of work like a magma core!.
‘Live Fast’ which possibly just pips the “best on the album” trophy (although this depends on which day your listening, it changes every time), has everything I personally want in a song, lyrics that could have easily been taken from my younger life (thank goodness I made it to here though), guitars that scream along like there’s no time to waste.
Being a Punk/Rock band could feel a little constricting to some bands, The Von Tramps have taken every inch of what makes music great and totally moulded this into what can only be described as Rock/Bop/Punk with added zing!.
The way The Von Tramps have dealt with clearly having influences from the likes of The Dollyrots, The Go Go’s or maybe even Blink 182, is to take all this and out strip them all with a sound that just is!, I mean how can you not feel overwhelmed by the depth of quality you get from songs like ‘Lo Mein’ that smacks you around with ska beats that are encompassed in a crazily heavy ballad, then there’s ‘Come Alive’ a power rock anthem that uses everything great about rock, yet still is so much more than that, and what about the high velocity of ‘Aspartame’ a dangerously sweet moment (go look it up).
I do hope your getting the idea by now, this is an album that will sit on my personal playlist for a very long time to come, sit down and listen, don’t expect to here an album that is 1 or 2 dimensional, this is a 3D experience in musical, emotional and beautiful moments, all the way to final offering, the no holds barred powerhouse ballad that is ‘Waking Up’.
Bullets can kill, songs heal, The Von Tramps fire their bullets with songs.
