Ahead of this year’s Rebellion Festival we’re asking a selection of the band’s who are appearing about what we can expect, and for their advice on surviving the four day festival. In the thirteenth of The Punk Site‘s 2019 Rebellion Festival previews we speak to David Delinquent, the frontman and guitarist from Dundee’s The DelinquentsThe Delinquents started in 2015 and have been played all over the UK ever since, they released their debut album ‘About Last Night‘ on Violated Records in 2017 and self-released their latest EP ‘Sober On Sunday‘ in April 2019.

You can read about what to expect from The Delinquents at the Rebellion Festival below.

Is this your first experience of the Rebellion Festival or have you played before?

This is our third year as a band and probably my 8th as a punter!

What can we look forward to from your set?

We have some surprises planned, wait and see. We have a set that’s been the staple for the last 11 months so nothing too surprising song wise. We will be playing everything from our new EP, some of the first album and we will be playing a new song called ‘Delinquents’ which is already becoming a crowd favourite. Expect a lot of energy. Come say hi after it and share a Dragon Soop with us.

What makes the Rebellion Festival special for you?

I always repeat this but its like a family holiday for me. I’ve been going since 2011 and I’ve just made it my holiday every year since. I’ve made friends since going and ever since The Delinquents have been gigging those wonderful folk at Rebellion will invite us back. Totally psyched that I get to be part of festival I’d be at anyway. It’s proper humbling to be involved with so many talented people who are all on the same wavelength.

Will you have the chance to catch anyone else whilst you’re there and is here anyone else on the bill you’d recommend people go and see?

I’m there all weekend so I will be making sure I see Descendents and Walter Lure. I WILL not pass out before either. Others I’d recommend would be our Dundonian counterparts The Eddies and The Cundeez, Dead Mob, Kearneys Jig, Reaction, Suckerpunch, Nosebleed,Pizzatramp, No Thrills and Fire Exit.

If you could pick one band to appear at the Rebellion Festival who would it be?

Rise Against.

Do you have a favourite memory from a previous Rebellion Festival?

Too many but seeing Less Than Jake I 2017 when I was actually wanting to die cheered me up big time. That was an ace shout that nobody saw coming for Rebellion.

Are you currently on tour if so where else are you playing this year?

Mostly local shows in Scotland before the summer ends. We have already toured the EP in April so there’s three more fests then bed for a year. We play Punktoberfest in October in Dundee, one of the best festivals in the country. Morecambe Punk Festival which we did last year which was also an absolute time and lastly Dead Fest 2 in Birmingham

What can we look forward to from you in the next twelve months?

Peace and quiet-ish. We go into hibernation to write and record album number 2 so there won’t be many shows. There will be one show next year I think and it’s a biggie….

Do you have any festival survival tips?

Who am I to give advice? Don’t make an arse of it? I was sick all over myself during The Murderburgers set last year after drinking the temple bar dry and escorted out of McDonalds at 5 am. No Regrets.

Is there anything else in Blackpool you’d recommend people experience whilst they’re in the town?

Get really high and go up the tower….

Finally when and where are you appearing?

3.55pm at the Arena Stage Thursday. Don’t be late.

Thanks for taking the time to speak to us, we’ll see you down the front
