Ahead of this year’s Rebellion Festival we’re asking a selection of the band’s who are appearing about what we can expect, and for their advice on surviving the four day festival. In the ninth of The Punk Site‘s 2019 Rebellion Festival previews we speak to The WitchDoktors who will be serving up a cocktail consisting of a double measures of 70’s punk, a good ol’ full measure of trashy rock n’roll-a-billy, a dash of 60’s psyched-out garage and a bitter slice of country on the rocks. The WitchDoktors can currently be found gigging across the UK and they are working on the follow-up to their 2016 full length “Voodoo Eye”, you can read about what to expect from The WitchDoktors at the Rebellion Festival below.

Is this your first experience of the Rebellion Festival or have you played before?

Yes – we’ve not played Rebellion before. It’s kind of been on the cards but the stars haven’t aligned – we’re really looking forward to rippin’ it up on the Sunday

What can we look forward to from your set?

A full on heads down rock n’ roll punk experience from ‘one of the best live bands in the UK – the Clash duelling with Living End’ according to the well informed Vive Le Rock Magazine

What makes the Rebellion Festival special for you?

Well it’s party central – a chance to meet up with all of your mates and to catch the best of old and the best of new in the punk scene

Will you have the chance to catch anyone else whilst you’re there and is there anyone else on the bill you’d recommend people go and see?

We’re there on Sunday so we’re gonna catch The Skids, The Damned, our buddies The Weird Things and SnakeRattlers and we’re gonna take a peek at Nosebleed – they sound great!

If you could pick one band to appear at the Rebellion Festival who would it be?

Iggy Pop would be cool – always an event when Iggy’s in town!

What can we look forward to from you in the next twelve months?

We’ve got a best of LP planned for the autumn and then start recording work towards a new single and LP for a late 2020 release

Is there anything else in Blackpool you’d recommend people experience whilst they’re in the town?

Nope – we’ll let you know next time out!

Finally when and where are you appearing?

We’re playing the Arena Stage on Sunday 4th at 6.50pm – come and check us out!

Thanks for taking the time to speak to us, we’ll see you down the front
