SPQR are known for making their own visceral brand of art-rock. Having now released three EPs, 2017’s The House That Doubt Built, 2019’s Low Sun, Long Shadows and 2020’s No Brain, No Pain, the band have developed their sound to the point of they are now at. Early on, the once trio of weird-rock misfits often delivered tight, staccato grooves with rhythm section Bex Denton and Jack Sanders providing the perfect foundation. Peter Harrison’s freaky guitar colourations and crystal-clear voice are often free flowing and sit atop the foundation provided by Denton and Sanders. But with the introduction of Connor Dickson to the band, their sound has developed into something of a release for both listener and performer.

SPQR look set to capitalise on the support they have already been given, the band’s plans have gone from pretty much empty to the absurd very quickly. They’ve released their new single, Fault Lines, finished recording their album with Mark Rankin and it’s looking likely that they have lined up tours with Everything Everything, John and Childcare as well appearances at Liverpool Sound City, Futurama Festival and Wild Paths. They’re also in the process of launching their own studio where they’ll be recording new artists from the North West of the UK and beyond.

Fault Lines is now available via streaming platforms and can be streamed and purchased via Bandcamp
