Alcopop! Records Announce SXSW Showcase & Release “BBQ Sauce Sampler” EP

UK independent label Alcopop! Records have announced that they will be hosting an official showcase at this year’s SXSW festival in Austin, Texas. Taking place on Friday 17th March at Sellers Underground, the show is free entry with badge or wristband and will feature Alcopop! Records artists from across the UK and US, including Portsmouth indie/surf trio Dutch Criminal Record, Derry pop punks CHERYM, LA indie rockers Cheekface, Manchester feminist punks Loose Articles, Welsh bilingual alt-rock band CHROMA, and London indie alt-rock duo Prima Queen. In the time-honoured Alcopop! Records tradition of quirky release formats, the label have released a special limited edition pay what you want BBQ Sauce Sampler EP featuring tracks from all the artists that is now available via Bandcamp.

“Well. It’s always lovely to forge a fantasy collection of f*cking outrageously good bands onto your little show, and we’ve been SO lucky to be able to do that at SXSW this year, in what is legitimately our first EVER showcase at the festival. Last time Alcopop! ventured to Texas we mainly watched pig racing at the rodeo and sat in Dallas Dive Bars, so being part of it all happening is pretty exciting! The only bad thing about SX is that everyone left at home is always a bit gutted they’re not in Austin, so we thought we’d remedy that by making a BBQ Sauce and crafting a PWYW playlist, so you can crank up the barbie, slap a slab of something suitable on it, crack a Hooch, and at least PRETEND you’re there. It’ll be just like the real thing. Maybe?”
