CH3 To Release 40th Anniversary “CH3:40” Box Set

CH3, aka Channel 3, have teamed up with Hostage Records once again to release the CH3:40 anniversary box set. The band actually celebrates 41+ years since the release of their first EP, Posh Boy, but Covid and pressing delays see the new set landing just before the band turns 42! CH3:40 is a double album on multicolored vinyl that comes with a 28 page booklet showcasing the band’s long and varied career.

All aspects of the band’s evolution are included, with songs from Posh Boy, Enigma, Dr. Strange, TKO and Hostage labels represented. The 27 remastered tracks include early demo takes and live cuts, as well as their well known hardcore standards, along with the mid 80’s forays into Americana rock that was then met with mixed results. The 28 page color booklet includes narrative text by front man Mike Magrann, along with dozens of candid photos from Kimm Gardener’s personal archives.

All past members, some 20+ strong, are represented as well, and a collectors edition of the set signed by all surviving participants will be released in early 2024. CH3:40 is a limited edition set with less than 1000 copies available to the public via CH3 and Hostage Records with signed copies available in 2023. The band will also be playing a release show on December 17th at Long Beach Steady Brewing.
