SundownerFrench music website Alternativ News recently caught up with Chris McCaughan (Lawrence Arms, Sundowner) for a brief interview about his latest solo record, We Chase The Waves (Asian Man Records).  In the interview McCaughan discusses his interaction and overlap between his bands, including what makes each project unique.  Here’s an informative exert:

“All the songs on We Chase The Waves were written specifically for the album. I’m not really in the game of gauging what inspirations take me where. I think they all come from a pretty similar place. The only The Lawrence Arms song I wrote during the period of writing We ChaseThe Waves was a song called “The Slowest Drink” that’s on Buttsweat And Tears [the 7” The Lawrence Arms released last year, ed.] and I knew instantly it was a The Lawrence Arms song because I could already hear the guitar interludes in my head. When I made Four One Five Two the lines were more blurry but at this juncture I think I know instantly where things are going.”
