Brighton, UK’s City Dog have revealed their new single, A Circus, which is now available via Small Pond Records. The track is the latest to be taken from the Small Pond Presents: Emerging Vol. 3 compilation album which will be released on 24th November. Citing inspiration from Ty Segall, Drenge, Queens of the Stone Age and IDLES, City Dog‘s decade-spanning punk sound could be equally at home amongst the ’70s punk progenitors, through to Seattle’s grunge explosion and even nu-metal’s more jagged fringes.

“Of course circuses are often people doing stunts and performing to entertain a crowd, but more traditionally it was people who didn’t line up with society’s standards being observed for their differences in a negative way. Perhaps the audience goes to the circus to feel less insecure about their own appearances. ‘A Circus’ questions this attitude in relation to the modern world we live in. I’d like to be a part of a world where people’s differences are celebrated and not observed in cages, where no one is seen as lesser than or other simply for their outer appearance, where everyone’s differences can be celebrated and not judged. I think people would be more true to themselves if they didn’t fear rejection or judgement and everyone, perhaps, could get on a little better.”
