Gainesville’s Coffee Project (featuring Less Than Jake’s Buddy Schaub alongside Jake Crown) has announced an upcoming five-song digital EP to be released through Paper + Plastick Records. The EP, which is tentatively set for a September 27th release date, will be the band’s fourth release on Paper + Plastick Records and feautures four brand new songs (tracklisting below) and a cover of Malvina Reynolds’ “Little Boxes” – which is the theme song for Weeds. As they have done in the past, bandmates Jake Crown and Buddy Schaub recorded the EP at Schaub’s studio in his house in Gainesville, rounding up a host of guest musicians to join in on some tracks. Crown and Schaub produced the EP and Stephen Egerton mastered it.
The cover of “Little Boxes” is currently being offered as a free download in exchange for a tweet in the Paper + Plastick webstore.
After releasing the EP, Paper + Plastick will release a two-song, one-sided 7” of children’s music recorded by Coffee Project. The 7” is being released to help celebrate the birth of Less Than Jake drummer and Paper + Plastick founder Vinnie Fiorello’s new daughter. Afterwards, the duo also plans to release a split 7” with Arliss Nancy in late 2011 or early 2012.
