NYC’s Damn Jackals new Summer 2021 single, Lovely Nuthin’, is a doo-wop bop drenched in proto-punk flavor that addresses vanity and social media addiction. With it’s Strokes-gone-surfing licks, harmonizing glam guitars and it’s blissfully crisp crooning from lead singer Beau Croxton, it sets a smooth and fashionable entrance into their most catchy and smashing song to date. You can catch the Damn Jackals single release show at the Our Wicked Lady rooftop in Brooklyn tomorrow, July 24th.

While it’s an upbeat and retro tune, lyrically it delves into the modern parallels of addiction, vanity, and self worth derived from social media perception.  The eruptive 60’s chorus calls back to the likes of T. Rex with it’s multi-octave guitar riffing from guitarist Max Motchan.  The track is also a nod to bands like the New York Dolls and King Khan & The Shrines by taking a traditional 60’s song structure reminiscent of The Shangri-La’s, and loading it with crispy guitar fuzz induced choruses. Lovely Nuthin’ provides their concert audiences with a celebratory dance party number between their trademark speed-demon Punk Rock N’ Roll cuts.
