The SoDa Poppers Drop New Single “Not Even In Your Wildest (Fuckin’) Dreams”
Johny Skullknuckles (The Kopek Millionaires / The Dead Beats / Goldblade) continues his musical adventures with The SoDa Poppers and their brand new…
Dealing With Damage started 2020 in great shape. Their debut album, Ask The Questions, had just been released on CD and digitally via Little Rocket Records to some great reviews, after a couple of fantastic gigs with their Norwegian friends Danger! Man and Lucky Malice the band were all fired up for the year ahead, looking forward to taking all of the songs crafted for the album to any stage that would have them and…well, you know what happened next.

So, with live music off the cards for the rest of 2020, Dealing With Damage got busy between lockdowns writing new songs that will eventually form their sophomore album and planned the vinyl release of Ask The Questions. And finally, after fighting covid, Brexit and near six-month lead times to get vinyl pressed, it’s finally here! Now titled Ask More Questions, on account of the vinyl featuring two bonus tracks, Making Plans For Misery and Lady Day, that were recorded in summer 2019 at the legendary No Recording Studio with supremo John Hannon at the controls, and originally released on the digital EP Home Security.

Today also sees the release of the Slow Shadow video, one of the standout album cuts, a psychedelic groover that saw the band head to Claygate, the Surrey village where guitarist Andy Myers lives and where drummer James Sherry grew up, with bassist Paul Grier close by as well, to film the video on a beautiful summer’s day, fresh out of lockdown. The joy of returning to this magical childhood place is reflected in the playful spirit of the video, whilst the song’s lyrics reflect on the passing of time.
“Lyrically, ‘Slow Shadow’ is a meditation on the universal experience of hurtling towards death, one day at a time, whilst at the same time being damned if having a few extra years on the clock is going to dim the creative fires that burn inside us. It’s 2 minutes and 42 seconds where the veil of self-deprecation is cast aside and DWD insist on being heard. One day they will indeed be that slow shadow, but for now at least, they’re here and they feel they have something to say and an interesting way to say it.”
