After months of perfecting their set, Dead By Monday started to lay siege on their homeland and beyond, a plethora of fiery live shows soon followed, including supports with The Living End, Daggermouth, Annewrage and WRCKG, which has happily helped them scoop up widespread praise for their energetic and scintillating live performances, all in anticipation of laying down plans for the release of their debut EP, Almost Punk, on the 27th July. Before then, we asked the band to give us an exclusive insight into the songs behind the EP.

You can read a track by track breakdown of the Almost Punk EP below

The First

The First is the first song we wrote as a band and the first song on the ep, hence the name! The sound owes itself to the classic early 2000s feel of bands like Alexisonfire, with catchy riffs, huge melodic choruses and some blisteringly heavy breakdowns for good measure.

Dead Souls

Opening with a balls-to-the-wall thrashing punk section before jumping straight into a sleazy southern rock lick, Dead Souls will stay stuck in your head for days! The lyrics paint the all too relevant picture of the disillusionment of youth and the struggles of the working class in modern society. Watch the video for Dead Souls below

Our Doomsday

Our Doomsday relates to the troubling state of the world today; we’re dealing with an increasingly volatile diplomatic crisis with Russia and Syria and what’s worse? We voted for the people who seem hell-bent on taking us to the brink of global catastrophe. It’s an aggressive and angry track, and justifiably so.

Choke

Choke is a departure from our usual sound, featuring our multi-talented drummer on vocals. The first act is ambient, soulful and sad, bringing out a very different side of the band. The second half is a full on chaotic assault on the senses, hopefully leaving listeners stunned into silence as the EP closes!
