When we were planning the songs for the EP, we knew we wanted to include a cover. We wanted something that hadn’t already been covered several times, but also something that was a really familiar song. We also wanted something that wasn’t right in our genre, so we could change it and make it our own. We started working on this before Tom died: in fact it was just during the mastering stage that we heard the news. It was one of those moments where you remember exactly where you were when the news came on the radio: I was on my way home from the Midwest US at a gas station somewhere west of Chicago. It was an incredible coincidence that this song had taken such an important role in our lives by then so the news came as quite a shock. And the song sure means a lot more to us now.
