Long Beach, NY’s Family Dinner have released their debut album, God Looks Out For Fools, via Other People Records. The twelve tracks on the record cover a range of emotions, the band channel sounds from punchy to somber that are accompanied by lyrics on love, loss, death, empowerment, and mischief. The album was recorded over a year at Barbershop Studios in NJ with Brett Romnes and Vinnie Caruana (I Am The Avalanche). As the band combine their alternative, indie and punk rock roots, there is a distinct beach party vibe to many of the tracks. There’s lyrical call backs to the ocean, wanting to wake up high and an overall balance of having fun while reflecting on life.

“We definitely draw lyrical inspiration from growing up on the beach, although I try not to let it completely dominate all our songs. But you can definitely tell I love referencing the ocean beginning with our earliest songs. We all live within 2 miles of each other, so being physically close to each other and being able to write whenever we get an idea is extremely beneficial, bouncing ideas off each other constantly during the writing process. We also live in a party beach town that tends to also have a dark side to it. I think listeners will hear exactly that.”
