Inner Dog – Inner Dog EP

This is the debut EP from the new must see band from London, it showcases a trio songs that by the sound of it will propel them to great things, and hopefully a place in your music collection and heart. Inner Dog are one of the bands that still shows just how much punk is still alive and growing throughout the years, this four piece are what can only be described as millennial hardcore and have only been around making music since 2025. Hitting the scene with an EP of only three songs, I say ‘only’ three because after listening, you feel short changed in a way, but I’m totally looking forward to what could and should still be to come.

‘Truth’ is the first song to smash your ears to pieces from the off, but once full immersed in this slightly contradiction of a song, it becomes clear that anger isn’t the real emotion here, it more of a primal grief thing going on. It’s tearing at the fabric of life and learning how to stitch it back together with the memories that make you who you are. This is all surrounded by music and vocals that scream when needed, but feel just as hard. ‘Bears Eat Honey’ was a title that initially made me think “well no shit sherlock”, but then once you realise just how this song looks at an upbringing that was surrounded by misogynistic values then this statement fits perfectly into this story, and this time the screaming does feel like more of an anger thing. However, as reported earlier, this is millennial hardcore, it feels like it comes from the soul more than the brain. Finally ‘Smoke Mirror’ hits the gas pedal fully to the floor, this is visceral and resentful of life’s short comings.

All in all this is a start to Inner Dog’s life in the wide world that will bring them kicking and screaming to the forefront, and let’s hope it also kicks their asses to make more, because thats exactly what we are waiting for right now!

Inner Dog‘s self titled EP is out now via Serial Bowl Records.
