Fundraiser Launched For Iconic Venue ‘The Star And Garter’

The Star & Garter is at the heart of the DIY music scene in Manchester and it needs your help. A home to the punk rock, metal, folk, and indie scenes in the city, it’s a vital part of what makes Manchester great. It’s the place we’ve sung our hearts out and drank the bar dry watching some of our favourite bands. Manchester would be at a loss without it. That’s why Interbrew Media and UTB Manchester have teamed up to save The Star & Garter, and they need your help. The Punk Site has covered countless gigs at this iconic venue, Phinky from our staff even played there, we’d be at a loss without places like The Star And Garter, somewhere to support local bands, discover new music and see some of the best gigs in the city. You can donate to the Fundraiser to save The Star & Garter here

It’s hard for venues at the best of times and right now it’s even harder. Without our support venues like The Star And Garter will struggle to survive.  If these venues close people will lose jobs, there will be limited venues likely to only hold bigger acts, and hard-working unsigned and independent bands may struggle to get out on the live music scene. The Star And Garter pub in Manchester is a well-loved and historic venue. It’s an ingrained part of the culture of Manchester, and the thought of so much history, love, and passion going away is not worth thinking about.  Independent venues like this are the lifeblood of the music industry across the country — they make history for bands, create memories for the fans, and are an important hub of the music scene. That’s certainly the case in Manchester.

UTB and Interbrew are teaming up to raise as much money as we can for our beloved The Star And Garter and we need your help to do it. We’ll be working with promoters, record labels, musicians and fans from across Manchester and beyond to make it happen. We also wanted to make sure YOU get something out of this too, because as music fans you keep the industry afloat.
