Grail Guard have returned with Anxieties, the second single from their upcoming debut album, Still No Future. The track is a full-throated anarchist anthem aimed squarely at the forces trying to drag society backwards, Anxieties is driven by a relentless guitar riff and a shout-along breakdown that has already ignited crowds at shows across the UK, Anxieties is hardcore punk with intent. It’s anger with purpose, not posturing. A call to push back against the people and systems that grind you down, weaponising fear, uncertainty, and division to stay in power. The song was written against the backdrop of the summer 2024 riots, as a country already in chronic decline after 14 years of Tory rule saw far-right “patriots” take to the streets. Towns and cities across the UK were targeted as people of colour were intimidated, families terrorised, and communities attacked, all cheered on by figures like Tommy Robinson, Nigel Farage, and the right-wing gutter press. “If you were setting fire to bins and screaming at terrified families in a Travelodge in summer 2024,” the band state, “this song is about you.”
Lyrically, Anxieties confronts a nation stripped of hope, where the rich continue to steal from the poor, heroes are nowhere to be found, and uncertainty is deliberately cultivated to keep people divided and afraid. The track erupts into a collective refusal to stay silent, culminating in a defiant chant of solidarity and resistance. The closing line “Fuck you, you fascist scum!” is a deliberate nod to Woody Guthrie, echoing his immortal words: “All you fascists are bound to lose.” A reminder that resistance has history, and a future. Anxieties was recorded by Jon Priestley (The Godfathers / The Damned) at Abatis Studios, capturing the band’s raw aggression without dilution, the track is taken from their debut album, Still No Future, that will be released via TNSrecords on the 6th March.
