Hayley And The Crushers are grabbing the wheel on their new single and video, She Drives, that was produced by Paul Roessler at Josie Cotton‘s Kitten Robot Studios in LA and mastered by Mass Giorgini at Sonic Iguana Studios. She Drives is an ode to sticky mid-summer joyrides on an open road with your angst far behind in the rearview mirror.

“It’s a deceptively bubbly tune, actually. I wrote ‘She Drives’ in the bathtub, that’s one silly fact. One of my best friends had called me up and had told me about a spat she had with her partner. Her first instinct was to drive until she felt better. Which, if you know this person, is not weird at all…she DRIVES HARD on a normal day, so why not drive for therapeutic reasons? The idea of running from a bad feeling struck me as universally relatable. I’ve certainly done it many times, both figuratively and literally. The tune also brings me back to the first car I ever loved, my 1968 Olds Delta 88. Stinky, rusty and generally ill-tempered, it was the perfect companion to my wild years driving like a bat out of hell all over Southern California. Why does no one tell you that it’s the tiniest, stupidest stuff you will miss once you get old?”
