Hayley And The Crushers have announced a run of US tour dates in support of their new single and video, Taboo, that will drop on the 23rd August via Kitten Robot Records. On that date the band will also be announcing pre-orders for their new full length, Modern Adult Kicks, including on a blue raspberry vinyl variant.
“We named our forthcoming album “Modern Adult Kicks” for a reason. Just like everyone else in the world, the Crushers fell face first into a black hole of growing pains during 2020 and 2021. We navigated through the pandemic with these songs, we signed to Kitten Robot Records in the middle of making the album, and we started working both remotely and in-person with Paul Roessler of the Screamers, the closest thing to LA punk royalty we could imagine (a major silver lining during a very dark time!)…I remember sitting on my couch with my notebook in the spring of 2020, just after our album Vintage Millennial came out and the world shut down. I had an impossible to-do list in my lap: at the top of it was “write another record” and “find a label and producer” for the next phase of what we wanted to do. How does a tiny DIY band even do that?? Somehow, we managed to do both.“
“Modern Adult Kicks was something real to hold onto during a time we needed an anchor. After selling Dr. Cain’s comic book shop in an effort to keep up with a rigorous tour schedule, venues shut down completely. The band felt somber. Our drummer was severely injured after a skateboard crash. Dr. Cain lost his ability to work due to the lockdown. I confronted big questions that left me wondering what my path even was. Was it music? And if so, to what end?? The resulting songs are about heartbreak, isolation, addiction. But, of course, there’s lots of sunshine, too (We are the Crushers, after all). In 2021, Josie Cotton believed in us and brought us into her magical crew, and I know that saved us from languishing more than anything. Together, we made something REAL. Most importantly, we realized that “growing up” or “going through it” doesn’t have to mean you stop dancing. You just keep on moving and grooving toward who you are becoming, one misstep at a time. If you’re not sure what you’re doing or where you’re going, you’ve come to the right place. Glad you’re here. We might have written this anthem just for you.”
