Blasting out of a small storage unit in Tulsa, OK, punk barflies Hummin’ Bird have finally released their blistering debut full length, Underneath Scum Light via Black Site. The band brought the New Year in with a bang at Tulsa’s Whittier Bar on December 31st and have also released the video single for Kiss From A Rose For Xmas, the last of a of a trilogy of videos from Matt Taylor’s Taylor Town Productions, that tells the true story of what it means to lead a fast, cheap and out-of-control life.

In the Summer of 2021, on money earned at the craps table of a Kansas City casino, Hummin’ Bird somehow managed to keep it between the ditches long enough to record its first full-length album at Weights And Measures SoundlabUnderneath Scum Light follows up on the 2019 EP, the gloriously lo-fi Gutter Glitter. Teaming up with owner/operator and Kansas City engineering veteran Duane Trower, the band held to its no nonsense ethic and laid down the entire album in one sleepless weekend. With a turn here and a tweak there, the group created a record that instantly catches the attention of those with an ear for songwriting, guitar tone, and desperate frustration.
