Ska punk power trio Joker’s Republic are back with a cover of The Menzingers‘ 2017 sleeper hit, Tellin Lies, that is out today via Punkerton Records. The Joker’s Republic rendition of the song is a heartfelt self reflection on aging and transition with an anthemic chorus that is juxtaposed by a slow burn bridge, and an outro that ends with an almost fugue-like three part vocal.
Joker’s Republic bring their signature style to this cover, layering in ska heavy guitars and bass grooves, the song is danceable and addicting to listen to. The band worked with Pete Steinkopf (The Bouncing Souls) to engineer and produce the track, he brings his years of expertise and punk rock chops to this recording, as well as providing a featured guitar solo on the song.
