All variants on the signs saying “Luxury Apartments coming soon” which sit on the high street outside your favourite & empty venue, bar or place of social or historic interest waiting to be torn down. “Please make way for the future of glass plated architectural eyesore some tory donor lobbied in the name of proposed heritage, the weirdos that gave this country a good name kept us away from a cultural void ain’t welcome in our capital no more!”

Luxury Apartments

Born in 2018 Luxury Apartments pried its way into the London music scene where they came through with intent and dished out chaotic and intense live performances all around the capital. Started as a passion project by Matthew Turner with a revolving but never devolving cast of the best players London had to offer pre-covid times, past and current real deal artists part of the LA canon include Charlie Wyatt (Thee MVPs / Chubby & The Gang), Chris Franks, Phil Smith and more. Like the real estate counterpart, Luxury Apartments began to sprawl all over the country, picking up acclaim from writers and magazines after recording and releasing a handful of killer but hard to find demos just as we rolled up to the plague years. Whilst the world shut down, Luxury Apartments buried themselves away and took the term lock down a bit too seriously by getting it locked down, penning an album which was packed out with 10 conjured, nurtured and crafted tracks.

At the end of 2023 Luxury Apartments began releasing the first few tracks from their forthcoming debut self titled album, which is due for release April 21st through Manchester based label Eeasy Records. The album was recorded with Euan Hinshelwood and was put together on reel to reel tape in Euans studio in South London not long ago. It has been mastered by Mickey Young and the artwork, made by reclusive artist Lesley Miserables, brings together a solid ten track self titled debut from Luxury Apartments. The band are now gearing up to join UK punk outfit The Chisel, who hand picked them to join them on their UK tour playing at the Star & Garter in Manchester on the 4th February and at London’s 100 Club on the 24th February.

In the run up to these shows and the album release, Luxury Apartments have now released the video for the band’s second single, Wire. The video, which was put together by Bartleberry Logan who has worked with The Prodigy and PJ Harvey on various videos. The video was filmed in cult Hackney venue Helgis and showcases the feral intensity of the bands live performance. Wire is released through Eeasy Records and is available through streaming platforms and on 7” vinyl that is available through the bands’ Bandcamp page, the 7″ also features their previous single, Energy, on the b-side.
