Needs makes post-ironic hardcore that aptly blends their world view with sonic influences ranging from Metz to Protomartyr, Pissed Jeans to Nation of Ulysses. They have now released their first single and video, Eat the Rich… People’s Leftovers, that is taken from their sophomore album, Limitations, that is due out June 22. The song title is a cheeky commentary on trickle down economics and the fact that the lead singer actually eats leftovers at his dishwashing job. To exemplify their stance, there’s a Noam Chomsky quote in the lyrics, “Austerity is just a fancy word for class war”.
