Following the release of 2019’s conceptual album, La Paix Ou Le Sable, French melodic punk outfit Nightwatchers are back. The band have launched the single White Fathers, a track criticising the French state for its historical and present exploitation of minorities. The track is taken from the band’s upcoming, sophomore album, Common Crusades, that will be released on Lövely Records on October 8th
White Fathers tackles France’s colonisation of Algeria, and the french states attempts of Christianizing the region to “Make the Algerian land the cradle of a Christian nation, make it great and generous, In a word, another France.”. Musically, the single showcases a more laid back side of the band, Nightwatchers gloomy and resentful take on punk is preformed in a more restrained and melodic way than before.
