Sheer Terror Unleash “Squat Diddler” Single
On the eve on their May 2026 European Tour, NYC's SHEER TERROR have released their new single, Squat Diddler, that…
Who said pop punk was dead? Certainly not Toronto based band Oakrest, who have ensured that this music will linger much longer. The collective are heavily influenced by everyone’s favourite 2000’s pop punk pioneers in Blink-182, New Found Glory and Fountains of Wayne, in what was a real golden age of music in this realm. Oakrest have channelled this energy and brought their own offering to proceedings. With a debut album on the horizon, the band have now shared their new single, Shed My Skin. The track is a shining example of what we’ve been missing, that perfect dosage of pop punk is prevalent here, with soaring guitars and hugely catchy melodies from the quartet, who have made it clear their sonic direction.
In a song that is all about heartbreak, Shed My Skin is a highly euphoric and upbeat track, which brings you that nostalgic trip back to those retro years, alongside a modern production that cuts through the noise too. There’s a clear chemistry that seeps through in the music. Shed My Skin is the return of a short hiatus for Oakrest, who have been working hard on making their debut album. If this lead single is anything to go by, then they will be mightily popular among the punk entwined fans across their homeland and beyond. There is a new era of pop-punk among us, and Oakrest are at the forefront of it.

“The song Shed My Skin was actually one of the first songs written for our upcoming LP. It started out by wanting to write a song that was inspired by “The Story So Far’s” Under Soil and Dirt album, as that record defined a lot of what is currently in the new era of pop-punk. It all started with the opening riff, and from there, the rest all came together. The angst in the power chords and strumming pattern made it easy figuring out what to write about. And that is an ex. But it’s not just about having an ex. This song is about breaking out of your shell, and becoming your own person after this “ex” had control over you.“
Shed My Skin is now available via streaming platforms
