Pansy Division are celebrating the 30th anniversary of their breakthrough album, Deflowered, which was released in 1994 on Lookout! Records. The follow-up to their ground-breaking debut Undressed, their second album is often seen as the band’s best as it includes such classics as the roleplay tribute James Bondage, the skivvy salvo Groovy Underwear, their homage to girth, Beercan Boy, and the wry parody Negative Queen with its oft-quoted opener “He thinks he’s Oscar Wilde but he’s Paul Lynde.” The queercore pioneers will be hitting the road for a handful of shows including Atlanta, New Orleans, LA and John Waters‘ Mosswood Meltdown Festival on June 6th.
“Pansy Division’s first major tour was back in 1993, and here we are, now over 30 years later, and still touring. It’s such an honor to have people interested in seeing us live after all these years, and we are grateful to still be able to give them a great show! Last year, we celebrated the 30th anniversary of the release of our first album, Undressed, and we played a lot of songs from that album on tour. This year, we will be celebrating the 30th anniversary of our second album, Deflowered, and we’ll be revisiting a lot of the songs from that album on our next tour. This year, we’ll be returning to some of our favorite tour stops and some cities we’ve never been to, as we inch our way closer to our 1,000th show!” (bassist & vocalist Chris Freeman)
