Connecticut trio Perennial have released their new single, Up-tight, via Ernest Jenning Record Co. in the US and Safe Suburban Home in the UK. A rhythm & noise rave-up of Stax soul and mod-punk electricity, Up-tight is the stylish beating heart of Perennial’s kinetic new album, Art History, that is set for release on the 7th June. Art History finds the New England trio mastering their modernist punk as a collage of 60’s mod grooves, post-hardcore angles, Stax soul and experimental electronic music.

Co-produced by the band and engineer Chris Teti (The World Is A Beautiful Place & I Am No Longer Afraid To Die), Art History is the follow-up to the band’s 2022 breakthrough, In The Midnight Hour, and feels like a celebration of all the ways the band has pushed themselves so far. When Perennial went into the studio to begin work on Art History, one phrase remained at the forefront of their creative minds: “pop art.” Everything should be bold and electric, instantly memorable and insistently chic, sharp and stylish.
