Planes Mistaken For Stars have announced two reunion shows this fall. The lineup will consist of their final lineup of Gared O’Donnell, Chuck French, Mike Rocketts, and Neil Keener, with the addition of their previous guitarist Matt Bellinger.
The first will be held in Chicago on October 28th @ the Subterranean. Click here for more details and tickets. The second will be at The Fest 9 in Gainesville, FL on October 30th.
O’Donnell had this to say about playing again since their somewhat demise in February of 2008:
“ PLANES is getting together for some shows for a variety of reasons. The main catalyst being that Var (owner of No Idea Records) said, ‘Please play the No Idea 25th Year Anniversary at the Fest 9 in Gainesville,’ but I suppose people need a story – a little fat to nibble on. In all honesty, PLANES didn’t really break up. It was more the whole life-kept-getting-in-the-way thing, so we just stopped. We always felt if we were going to do it then we need do it balls deep! After all, the tip is just a tease. Keeping that in mind, we also miss each other. We miss the songs! With closer inspection and a little hindsight, they make more sense to us now than when we wrote them. We will be playing what we can remember, but almost assuredly nothing we wrote when we were 19. It just feels creepy. I can’t sing like a little boy who smokes too much anymore, but I can sing like a grown ass man who is a bit too sensitive and/or surly and smokes too much. So please come get loose with us!!! In the meantime, take care of each other!
The band’s final album, Mercy, was released in 2006.
