Pumpkin Guts Reveal “Cats, Corpses & Other Tales” On New EP
Just one year after their debut full length, Death, The Devil & Dismemberment, Pikeville, Kentucky’s Pastel Horror Punk outfit Pumpkin Guts have revealed the next stage of their sonic evolution with the Cats, Corpses & Other Tales EP that is out today via digital platforms through We Are Horror Records. Inspired by Alvin Schwartz‘ iconic schoolhouse staple, Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark, Pumpkin Guts carve a poppier niche in the horror punk scene while retaining that familiar yet subtle darkness. The Cats, Corpses & Other Tales EP features a collection of tracks that scratches that spooky season itch whilst drawing from Emo, Pop Punk and Post-Hardcore influences.
“Writing a song with dance pop elements like “Martin” was such a fun part of this project. It also meant a lot to me to revitalize “Cold Like Clay” because I put a lot of myself into those lyrics. Overall writing this EP was just a great experience and I think you can tell how much fun we had with it when you listen to it.” (vocalist Olive Guts)
