My dearest darling mother, I’m writing to let you know.
That the lies, the press are saying, is not a jolly good show.
I’ve always been your favourite, you’ve told me through my life,
apart from the Fergie fiasco, when I had to take a wife.
I’ve tried to be your action man, had adventures with my chopper
But some gold digger has reported me and I don’t know how to stop her.
I’ve paid off all my friends and bribed some minor contacts.
But now I need more funding, from the state income tax.
I thought I’d got away with it, to honour our precious name.
But some lawyer, who I couldn’t fix, is playing the legal game.
I’ve always been so sociable, parties and making friends.
I can’t remember everyone, my memory, just depends.
I thought that you’d protect me, could get away with murder.
But apparently she was rejecting me but, I never heard her.
My power and my privilege are what makes me such a catch.
And these silly girls who flirt with me, are never such a match.
I’m disappointed you deprived me, of my status and my name.
But I know you have to set an example and play the punishment game.
So now I’m rather flustered, I’m perspiring and feeling trapped
The only thing I have is you, unlike my zip, it hasn’t snapped.
So mother please forgive me, and lend me £12 million quid.
It’s just pennies in our world and keeps our secrets hid.
I promise I will settle, be more like Charles or even Anne
No more scandals will I bring, so please call off the hit-man.
My reputation ruined, my name is said in jest,
No more Randy Andy, it’s probably for the best.
With deepest distain Andrew (Prince)

Cherry B‘s collection of poetry and lyrics, Job Lot Of Rhymes, is now available via Flapjack Press. Job Lot Of Rhymes spans three decades of Cherry B’s performance work. Political, societal and inclusive, it is uncompromising and passionate punk ’n roll poetics firing from the belly of social conscience. Cherry B also appears on her monthly radio show on Totally Wired Radio, Poetry Is The New Rock ’N Roll, that offers an hour of lyric led, spoken versed, genre smashing, musical adventure into the exploration of hidden poetry, that is often camouflaged behind powerful rhythms and riffs. Named after one of their own songs, Cherry & Peesh will travel through the decades and diverse styles to discuss and dissect the meaning of rhyme as reflected by songwriters.

Cherry & Peesh will be playing in Sunderland at The Peacock on the 5th March with Atilla The Stockbroker and Red London in a night celebrating the much missed Angelic Upstarts frontman, Mensi. The following day Cherry B will be appearing once again with Atilla The Stockbroker at York’s The Fulford Arms and on the 25th March Cherry & Peesh will be the main support for Steve Ignorant at Newcastle University.
