R.C. Sullivan Reveal “Masquerade” EP

R.C. Sullivan are a long standing Dutch five piece punk rock band with a hardcore touch. With age comes wisdom, or so some people say. Apparently with age also comes a shift from making modern day hardcore towards more melodic punk rock, although still with that hardcore feel. Who’s to say if the two have anything to do with each other, but there it is! R.C. Sullivan‘s latest four track EP, Masquerade, is now available on 7″ vinyl here and through Bandcamp & streaming platforms.

More than ever before, the sound of R.C. Sullivan can clearly be labeled as punk rock, Masquerade contains four fast songs with a decent dose of melody, both in terms of singing and guitars. Thematically you could say that the record is about the many struggles in life. On the one hand, the tendency to fight against everything that is wrong and what you would like to be different. Flee from what you dislike and on the other hand, choosing to participate in what is expected of you and falling in line because change can sometimes be so damn difficult. The words “People never change” from the last song, Back In The Game, are a clear representation of this.
