Ahead of this year’s Rebellion Festival we’ve been asking a selection of the band’s who are appearing about what we can expect, and for their advice on surviving the four day festival. In the 17th, and final, of The Punk Site‘s Rebellion Festival previews we speak to Bristol’s Kiss Me Killer, a ferocious, hooky garage punk band who are making their Rebellion debut on the Introducing Stage. The Rebellion Festival will be taking place from tomorrow at Blackpool Winter Gardens until the 5th August 2018, you can view the full line up for this years festival here.
You can read about what to expect from Kiss Me Killer at the Rebellion Festival below
Is this your first experience of the Rebellion Festival or have you played before?
Yes this is our first time at Rebellion and first time for everyone to Blackpool! We are very excited to play.
What can we look forward to from your set?
In terms of style, we’ve been described as “Boasting influences from psychedelic originators The 13th Floor Elevators, to garage pioneers MC5 and the Stooges, to punk stalwarts such as the Mob, the Ruts to old school metal and riot grrls bikini kill.” My brother said It’s going down was like The Cramps meets Beastie Boys, which pretty much nails it haha. So something for everyone! Expect a memorable live performance full of energy! We play loud and fast so come along and have a good mosh!
What makes the Rebellion Festival special for you?
We were stoked to be asked to perform and it’s great to be on the same line up as bands we all listened to growing up.
Will you have the chance to catch anyone else whilst you’re there and is there anyone else on the bill you’d recommend people go and see?
Yes! We can’t wait to see Stiff Little Fingers, Pizzatramp, Brassick, Ramonas, Aerial Salad, Face Up!, Vulpynes, Suckerpunch, The Menstrual Cramps, Cadaver Club, Murderburgers, Witchfever, The A Heads, Subhumans, Petrol Girls, In Evil Hour, Ruts DC, Efa Supertramp the list goes on and on!
If you could pick one band to appear at the Rebellion Festival who would it be?
We would just like to see more female identifying/non binary/LGBTQIA+ bands at all festivals across the UK.
Do you have a favourite memory from a previous Rebellion Festival?
This is all of our first time!! But everyone elses memories look rad!
Are you currently on tour if so where else are you playing this year?
Yes, after Rebellion we play the Louisiana in Bristol on 17th August with our pals Martyrials and Head Noise, Oxford with the Menstrual Cramps and Death of the Maiden on 24th, Griffstock in Reading on 25th , Hub Fest in Cardiff 26th, Brum Punx Picnic on 8th September and then Worcester Punk Festival on 15thSeptember. We are taking a sabbatical from Oct – Dec to concentrate on out debut album.
What can we look forward to from you in the next twelve months?
Our debut album and some music videos, Holly-Pops is moving to Manchester so we will be playing up north a bit more over the next year so watch this space!
Do you have any festival survival tips?
Respect your mutuals… We are all one big punk rock family.
Is there anything else in Blackpool you’d recommend people experience or avoid whilst they’re in the town?
