Rum Lads have exploded onto the UK Punk scene having been around barely longer than a Tory prime minister. A northern working class punk band, here we have four angry lads playing angry songs & telling it straight. The band is vocalist Richie Rum Lad (Rum Lad), guitarist Newts Newton (Angelic Upstarts), Drummer Jim The Fin (Propane 4) and bassist Si-Cadelic (Corporal Bones) who have just come out of 2Fly Studios in Sheffield after working with Alan Smyth, a producer who needs no introduction having worked with Pulp and Arctic Monkeys to name but two.
Rum Lads have pulled together their debut album, Noise Terrorists, that has real bite and a ferocity that goes all out to highlight social injustice and one that possesses an anti Tory vitriol that makes Kunt and the Gang look like the Chuckle Brothers. Rum Lads are a real working class punk band with no showbiz tendencies, they are gunning for the Tories and are going to tell you why. The music and songs will resonate indeed with punks and music fans who have had enough of this social and economic shit show.
Noise Terrorists is set for release in the spring of 2023 but The Punk Site has been given the premiere of the video for Wasps, a song taken off their upcoming album. The track is about rich versus poor, a song that shows the divide as the rich and greedy shareholders like those of the energy companies etc. carry on just stinging the fuck out of each and every one of us day by day, minute by minute as summed up in its lyrics: “all these fucking wasps are here to lead the way…protecting all their wealth while queens just pro-create”.
Rum Lads will be on tour in 2023 and have already announced festival appearances across the Spring and Summer months including Punk On The Peninsula, Manchester Punk Festival and Rebellion Festival. The actual days have yet to be announced so keep an eye out for them being announced along with all the other news such as new merchandise releases, further revelations about Noise Terrortists and tour dates by following them on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
