Manchester Punk Festival have released the 36th volume of their compilation series ahead of next year’s festival. Manchester Punk Festival Vol. 36 is…
Since 2005, Russkaja have been touring through Europe and delivering turbo party power at festivals and in clubs all over the continent. The band’s energetic front man, Georgij Makazaria, and his vibrant appearance inspires people to bounce frenetically, dance, pogo and scream their heads off. He is supported by the precise rhythm and driving force of drums, bass and guitar as well as the melody coming from violin, sax and the potete (a unique bass-trumpet). Together, the talented musicians follow their passion for live music and the classic melodies of Eastern Europe. Russkaja play with Slavic clichés and melancholic minor notes which pick up speed and invite you to join the party. The beat of the so-called turbo polka with a Jamaican ska-offbeat makes the people’s feet and souls celebrate, dance and happily forget all their woes. Excursions into punk rock, metal and dub-step attracts everyone that hears this band.
Since 2008, Russkaja have been the house band of the Austrian late night show, Willkommen Österreich, where they accompany the performances of star musicians in their own musical style, russifying and balkanizing their latest hits. The tracks on the band’s brand new best best of album, Chronicles, were selected by the band as well as by their fans, resulting in a colorful journey across Russkaja‘s 15-year creative period. From live classics like Change or Hometown Polka, to the big crowd favorite Energia and the banger Russki Style, die-hard fans and everyone, who wants to become one, will get the maximum of Russkaja experince. Chronicles is available as a very limited, hand-numbered vinyl edition signed by the band via SBÄM Records. Russkaja will also be on tour in the US with Flogging Molly next month playing 14 concerts across 7 states.
“And again, Vodka has connected people! We met Flogging Molly at a festival in Hungary. The sympathy and mutual admiration led to an invitation from the Irish-American band. After several years of planning, this invitation is now accepted – a joint tour of the USA. We can’t wait!”
