Serial Chiller are a three-piece slacker punk band driven by bass and fuzzy guitar, whilst crafting anxious thoughts on mundane jobs and the ever modernisation of social interaction into lofi-pop melodies that are paradoxically laid back and highly strung in both delivery and content. Structured around a solid frame of tight bass and pounding drums, the fuzz drenched guitar is free to drip in and out as it pleases, stabbing or sprawling, often building to a crescendo in the choruses. This is a dynamic that emulates the highs and lows of life. The hungover morning followed by the panic attack, the workday followed by the weekend.

On their new single, Interest, the first off their debut album, Serial Chiller stand back and look upon the online landscape only to realise: it’s a black hole of content. Images of cats and celebrities. Posts on feeds competing for attention, algorithms and paid advertising. Serial Chiller shouts into the void somewhat sarcastically, stating “Interest on the internet, we’ve got none” before concluding with the rhetorical question, tongue lodged in cheek, “Interest on the internet, how do we get some?”. The band will also be playing a single release show at Lincoln, UK’s Akedo Bar with support from The Avion & Good Job Kid on the 27th January

Dripped in DIY fuzz and rippling along with forceful drums and dancing bass, it is self knowing much like the very thing it questions. Sarcastic and just shy of bitter, the track takes stabs at a world where streaming services pay less than a four pack of warm beers. Interest was recorded live in Hull at The Moon Factory, a converted industrial space that now houses DIY artists and bands, they put their heads together to create a burst of energy, wrapping up in under two minutes. Just about as long as the internet’s attention span. This is the first single of many, ready to launch the public into the ashtray of their debut album, Don’t Buy It.
