Watford, UK’s independent alt trio SINKA are releasing their fierce new single, Don’t Speak Just Listen, digitally on March 21st. The fiercely compelling single explores new ground, in part due to its shift of perspective from the hunted to seeing life through the eyes of the hunter. Written at the crescendo the pandemic, and just months before the war on Ukraine, it’s an eery narrative that hits close to home during a time of great instability. Recording took place at two locations, the band’s hometown of Watford and neighbouring town of St Albans, with the band choosing to once again try a more DIY approach in their methods; recording in bassist Matt’s bedroom, as well as their local venue, St Albans The Horn.

The release of this single showcases the passion of a band who have proven to be a fantastic prospect for the evolving rock scene since the release of their blistering single Fussy. Their signature sound and an immense live show went on to earn them a slot at Camden Rocks Festival, as well as several headliners in the capital before the pandemic hit the UK, but this didn’t prevent them from releasing two EPs in that time, F.W.Y.K and Take Me To The Skies, both offering trademark riffs and soaring vocals in abundance. Now as the pandemic loses it’s stranglehold they’re back, equipped with a killer new single, and ready to reclaim the stage.

“I was trying to personify COVID into this tyrannical Sigure hunting people down in a dystopian world – all the fear, anger, panic, desperation, isolation – the deaths, the loss of freedoms, and the surreal nature of being locked down. I think the tone of the song reSlects that. I feel like we are still evolving with every release, and that’s been the way since day one. There’s loads more to come and it’s all taking shape in new and exciting ways. As artists we sacriSice too much to play it safe.” (frontman Shaun Sewell-Sears)
