Hailing from Long Island, NY, Somerset Thrower was founded by four friends who share a love of all things rock and roll. Built on punk and hardcore roots, the four-piece blends raw energy with melody-soaked textures to create something both urgent and timeless. Today, the band share their first new music in four years with the reflective new single, Never Going To Therapy, and have announced their third album, Take Only What You Need to Survive, will be released on July 11th through Smartpunk Records. Led by a gleaming guitar riff and yearning vocals, Never Going To Therapy perfectly encapsulates Somerset Thrower‘s early ’00s alternative meets punk approach. Melody and sincerity pine through every note, as the lyrics glance back on steadfast youth. The single is accompanied by video that features a live performance from the band with an unexpected sci-fi twist.
“This was the first song we wrote for the record and it inevitably became the first single. As we continued writing, I wasn’t sure of its place on the album. The band convinced me it was good and Jon [Markson, producer] made it come to life in the studio. It reflects on being young and pure and standing on your convictions as an artist. It’s as tongue in cheek as it is sincere.” (vocalist Frank Traficante)
