The murder of Sophie Lancaster occurred in the United Kingdom in 2007. The victim and her boyfriend were attacked by a number of males in their mid-teens whilst they were walking through a park in Lancashire, England. Sophie Lancaster and her partner were attacked solely because they belonged to an alternative subculture. Following the horrific murder of Sophie Lancaster, her family wanted to ensure a lasting legacy to their beautiful, bright creative daughter and so The Sophie Lancaster Foundation was established, it became a registered charity in 2009. You can read more about the aims of the foundation here.

Coffee Jingle Records are releasing a compilation album in aid of The Sophie Lancaster Foundation. The album is due for release on Friday May 27th. This album features Cradle Of Filth, Arch Enemy, Delain, Devilment, Vice Squad, Die So Fluid, Evil Scarecrow, Birdeatsbaby, and many more. The album is available to Pre-Order now as a digital copy and a CD with all proceeds going to the charity. This album is a mixture of alternative music and the intent of this release is to create awareness and raise funds to help support the charity to achieve their aims.

The aims and objectives of the Charity are as follows:

  • To create a lasting legacy to Sophie Lancaster.
  • To provide educational group-works that will challenge the prejudice and intolerance towards people from alternative subcultures.
  • To campaign to have the UK Hate Crime legislation extended to include people from alternative subcultures or Lifestyle and Dress.

Digital copies are £7, Double CD Album £10 (Free P and P in the UK) and 8 x 8 limited edition prints are £5 (Free P and P in the UK) all are available on Coffee Jingle Records Bandcamp here.

On a personal note I think this is a very worthwhile cause and one I would encourage anyone who has an alternative look and/or lifestyle (pretty much everyone reading this) to support.
