Today Sub Pop welcome Lawrence, KS based duo Sweeping Promises as they share new single, Pain Without A Touch. After carving out their thrifty and disciplined approach to songwriting under various guises, Sweeping Promises was born in a disused and reverberant concrete laboratory in Cambridge, MA. Lira Mondal and Caufield Schnug tracked with a self-devised “single-mic technique” and mixed in mono, completing their debut, Hunger For A Way Out, a post-punk leaning gem of unpolished DIY sound that arrived just in time to enter quarantine.

Pain Without a Touch is the first new music from Sweeping Promises, since their 2020 debut, and their first release for Sub Pop Records. Sub Pop and Feel It Records, who released Hunger For A Way Out, are partnering on the urgent new single that is out digitally today from Feel It Records in North America and Sub Pop for the rest of the world. The band, led by Lira Mondal and Caufield Schnug with live touring drummer Spenser Gralla, have also announced UK & European tour dates for 2022.
