After their last European tour in 2001 Todd Porter (aka Todd Cheat) and bassist Stevie D (aka Phillip Oliver Holes III) were sitting in a German airport talking about what kind of band they wanted to create next.  When they got back to the US they put together The No Goods. A few months later they entered the studio to record an EP. After recording the EP the band found out that their name, The No Goods, was already taken. Changing their name to The Cheats, the band quickly struck a deal with Pittsburgh based Da’ Core Records to release their first album, Cheap Pills, in 2003. Da’ Core Records became Screaming Crow Records in 2008 releasing the rest of The Cheats‘ catalog so far.

2023 marks the 20th Anniversary of the long out of print debut album and to celebrate the band enlisted new guitarist, Johnny Razorblade, to Re-EQ and remaster the original release. They also added the original No Goods‘ demo and a couple live tracks recorded on their recent spring tour and redesigned and upgraded the original layout. The 20th anniversary edition of Cheap Pills will be released on the 20th October and is now available for pre-order via Screaming Crow Records.
