Long Beach, CA’s The Dingees’ Dropseeds EP marks the return of International City Recordings flagship band. After playing strictly ska as Peg & The Rejected in recent years, as well as other side projects and solo albums, the original core are back with their trademark mix of punk, ska & reggae. The Dropseeds EP is the 22nd release on the band’s own, DIY run, International City Recordings.
The ecologically themed collection starts with Wild Wind, a punk rock sound very reminiscent of The Dingees first album, Armageddon Massive. A Jamaican bluebeat inspired ska track follows, as well as a reggae song called Machete Chop which showcases the band’s rootsiest sound to date. The final track, Dead Meat, is a punk track taking cues from the late 80’s rather than The Dingees usual territory of a decade beforehand.
