The NaNaz “Age Against The Machine” In BBC Documentary

The extraordinary journey of South Wales punk band The NaNaz is the subject of a new primetime BBC One documentary that will air on the 7th August at 7:30pm and is available to watch on BBC iPlayer now. The programme follows The NaNaz from the community music workshops where they first picked up their instruments to New York City, where they perform their first international gig at the LOUD WOMEN Fest in New York. LOUD WOMEN and the New York festival are woven throughout the documentary as the band prepare for the opportunity, juggle work, family and caring responsibilities, travel across the Atlantic and finally take to the stage in Brooklyn.

The NaNaz formed through workshops created to encourage women over 50 to make music, including sessions run by LOUD WOMEN. Their songs explore menopause, ageing, inequality and women’s lives, while challenging the idea that there is a correct age to start a band or step onto a stage. The New York performance was only the beginning. The NaNaz be appearing this years Rebellion Festival on the 8th August, the band will also return to LOUD WOMEN stages this Autumn, appearing at LOUD WOMEN Fest London on the 5th September and LOUD WOMEN Fest Newport on the 3rd October. The Nanaz released their debut EP, Nanafesto, in April which followed on from their 2025 debut single, 60 Lies.
