Indie rockers, The National, have announced that they are planning a tribute compilation to the The Grateful Dead as a follow up to their previous Red Hot Organization compilation, Dark Was the Night.
It’s not going to be like jam bands cover the Dead. There are so many cover bands. I think half of the record will be reinterpreting it. We’re also trying to think of unusual [acts]. Crystal Castles would be awesome
Bands such as Fleet Foxes and Bon Iver have expressed interest in contributing to the compilation.
The National have also released the single “Exile Vilify” from the game Portal 2. The song can be purchased from iTunes here.
