New AmsterdamsThe New Amsterdams have announced their first performance in over four years. The show will take place on March 23rd at the Jackpot Music Hall in their hometown of Lawrence, Kansas, with opener Old Canes.

The band, featuring Matt Pryor (of The Get Up Kids), Dustin Kinsey, Eric McCann, and Bill Belzer, will be accompanied by Nate Hofer on pedal steel and Dave Wetzel on keys. To date, the group have released six full length albums and three EPs, most recently releasing Killed or Cured Appendix in 2008.

Pryor, who just launched his sophomore solo album May Day, remarked:

“I’ve been wanting to do a New Ams gig with Old Canes for ages. I’ve been so busy with The Get Up Kids and solo stuff that we haven’t had time to do it. Since it was Crici (Old Canes) and my birthdays right around there we decided to do it now. So, in a sense it’s actually our birthday parties.”

At this time, there are no additional planned performances for The New Amsterdams.
