The North By South Reveal ‘Alive’ EP

The North By South have released “Alive“, their new three track EP that features founding member Chris Humphries and sometime bandmate and longtime friend Oliver New. Included on the “Alive” EP are three brand new tracks that were recorded just ahead of the third UK lockdown last November at Michael Hemmings home studio in Essex.

‘Alive’ is a bit of self explanatory one, it’s about music taking up your time, but also making you feel “alive”, and then when it’s gone that feeling is taken away, either by circumstance or those around you. ‘Shari’ is more of a break up style ballad with trade off vocals, about leaving towns and leaving the past behind. ‘Hell Is A City’ is somewhat indie-punk trying to be a bit, er dubstep? With Ollie’s sliding bass lines and my lyrics alluding to the infamous White Hotel rave warehouse/nightclub in Salford, UK, a place I’ve been to and gotten lost in with many a mate. The title is a reference to a 1960 Manchester-based horror/murder-mystery film of the same name! (Chris Humphries)
