The Professionals have announced they are calling it a day, the announcement follows what turned out to be their final tour concluding at the 100 Club earlier this month. The reason for the band’s sudden end hasn’t been announced and judging by their statement on social media it never will be! We’ve caught The Professionals many times since they reformed nine years ago and have been privileged to have covered them live on several occasions. Going forward frontman Tom Spencer will be releasing Volume 2 of his Acoustic Demos next month via Bandcamp, what the future holds for former Sex Pistol‘s drummer Paul Cook isn’t known. The Punk Site wishes Tom, Paul and the rest of the band past and present all the best for the future. Thanks for the memories.

“That’s all folks. This version of The Professionals started at the 100 club in 2015. 9 years later we’ve decided to end it there at the same venue. There have been a lot of great times from Hong Kong to Glasgow. From Madrid to Berlin. Me and Tom would like to thank the cast Ray McVeigh, Paul Myers, Toshi, Chris McCormack, Rich Jones, Chris Catalyst, Dean Croney and Marc Hayward. Plus all the crews, producers, engineers and promoters. Most of all, we want to thank you lot for supporting us. You can ask why we’re stopping – but you won’t get an answer.” (Paul Cook)
