Do compilations normally make our end of year list, the answer is no, but 20 Years Of Dreaming And Scheming isn’t your run of mill compilation. The album celebrates Chicago’s long running and legendary punk imprint, Red Scare Industries, turning 20 this year, this compilation celebrates this milestone with all new music from bands drawn from throughout the label’s history, including some who reunited just to record a song for the album. With fresh tracks by The Menzingers, Laura Jane Grace And The Mississippi Medicals, Dead To Me, The Falcon, Cobra Skulls, The Holy Mess, Nothington, No Trigger, Sam Russo, Sludgeworth, The Brokedowns, The Bollweevils, Elway, The Lippies and more, 20 Years Of Dreaming And Scheming marked a landmark anniversary for Red Scare Industries, and it did it in style.
“20 Years is a big enough milestone at the best of times, but when it comes to independent record labels, there has to be something of a party beyond all parties needed. Hence we now have the compilation ’20 Years Of Dreaming & Scheming’, this isn’t any ordinary compilation either, most comps take whats been, fling it together throw it out and let the listeners reminisce, this is not the case here. What we have here is a line up of bands old and new, with a set of brand new unreleased tracks, specially recorded for the moment. So loved is this label by bands and fans alike that nothing less would do to celebrate.” (Mark Cartwright)
