Ripping like all hell broke loose out of Brooklyn, NY, The Thing have today released their sophomore album, The Thing Is, via Bandcamp and digital platforms. In eleven tracks, The Thing takes a firm hold on the reins of their instrumentation, knowing the exact moment to let go and let it fly off the walls. It’s grunge, psych-rock, a little bit Western at times, gravelly goodness that insights a whole lotta angst.

The Thing are on an endless crusade when it comes to achieving the exact sound they’re looking for, even if that’s driving across the country for a specific instrument, religiously indebted to the DIY forefathers who came before. Committed to doing everything they can in-house, the band records at their East Williamsburg studio, Onion Records, creates their own visuals, and has crafted a visual identity that marries the grit of the 90’s with the effortless temptation of the 70’s.

The Thing will also be kicking off their North American tour shortly with a hometown show in New York City at one of the band’s favorite venues, TV Eye, tonight, the 2nd February. The band will then be snaking their way across the country, into Canada, and back along with appearances at Boise, ID’s Treefort Music Festival, NYC’s The Governors Ball Music Festival, Boston Calling and more!
