With their latest release, Blue Lights, Winter Wolf portray a theme that paints a picture of the the crooked police brutality, as well as the summer protests and riots that occurred during the height of the 2020 pandemic. The track is the first single off of the band’s upcoming debut EP that is set to be released by Academic Punk Records on July 2nd.
The band’s gritty, dark, and fast sound comes from a melting pot of different influences from the shock horror sounds of Screamin Jay Hawkins, to the raw punching rage of bands like Motorhead, this is combined with dual vocal dynamics and fast groovy beats. Founder member Jehiel Winters calls this genre “Harlem Rhythm Punk”, blending Hardcore Punk and Rock & Roll, with components of Soul and Gospel.
