Manchester Punk Festival Issues 40th Name Your Price Compilation
Manchester Punk Festival have released the 40th volume of their name your price compilation series via Bandcamp ahead of this year’s…
XUP has released her new single, Sunday Girl, via digital platforms, the track is the lead single from XUP‘s upcoming album, Spit & Lipstick, which is scheduled for release later this year. There is also a very special, limited edition, hot pink glitter 7” vinyl bundle, only three copies are in existence and they are only available on release day via Bandcamp. Both the digital and physical copies include Siamese on the flip side, Sunday Girl is also accompanied by a video that can be viewed on XUP’s YouTube channel, XUP TV.

Spit & Lipstick is an album about the making of an album. On the one hand, it is a love letter to Manchester, UK’s The Peer Hat, XUP’s favourite bar in Manchester and her second home during the making of the album, but the songs are also interwoven with a nostalgic retrospective about coming of age by the sea, the album title is also a nod to Hole. When making albums, XUP‘s starting points are almost always images and colours. And the studio is covered in mood boards and story boards. The Spit & Lipstick album is the colour of the sunset, seen through an old 70s TV set spitting static!

Spit & Lipstick will follow on from last years Planet XUP album and will continue XUP’s torn and tortured predatory, post-punk prowl, one that is gouged by a dead-eyed, sparsely detached, noir-stained sound of gnarly bass driven dark wave flavoured with cherry vitriol vocals.
